CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Aromaceuticals offers the following classes on a rotating basis. If you’re interested in a class that isn’t currently scheduled, please contact us for upcoming dates. We can schedule classes for your private group, spa, health center or workplace.
INTRODUCTION TO AROMATICS
Taught by a registered clinical aromatherapist, this foundation class will show you how to safely and effectively bring aromatherapy into your lifestyle or complementary healthcare practice. Learn how to enhance the health of your family or clients by choosing and blending custom aromatic formulas. We'll discuss aromatherapy basics, essential oil distillation, quality issues, safety issues and contraindications, blending technique, aromatic self-care and more. Hands-on blending time is an integral part of the workshop, and each student will create a personalized blend to take home! This course is an ideal primer for anyone who is seriously interested in learning about aromatherapy. Detailed handouts are included. Introduction to Aromatics is the prerequisite class for most of Aromaceuticals' advanced workshops. 6 hours.
AROMATHERAPY FOR THE MIND & SPIRIT
If you’ve been using aromatics for help with various physical conditions, you’ve probably noticed that they have an effect on your emotional state as well. We will explore traditional and contemporary uses of essential oils and hydrolats in healing the emotions and empowering the spirit, as well as the mythology of aromatic plants. The dynamics of somatic emotional release, transference issues, grounding and archetypal imagery will be discussed. The importance of aromatics in ceremony and creating a safe healing space will also be covered. Previous experience with essential oils is not necessary, but strongly recommended. The material should be of special interest to those working in somato-emotional integration, palliative care, hospice, energy work, spiritual counseling or psychotherapy. Includes detailed workbook. 12 hours.
BEYOND THE BASICS, Module 1: IN-DEPTH ESSENTIAL OIL MONOGRAPHS
This course is for those who are interested in a deeper study of essential oils and how they work on various organ systems, the emotions and the spirit. We will look at some of the oils covered in Intro to Aromatics and expand our knowledge of their use through detailed profiles of individual essential oils. We'll review blending skills, learn how to utilize infused herbal oils and explore basic aromatic botany. Students will receive an extensive workbook including formulas for common ailments, and everyone will be able to create a few of their very own personalized blends to take home. This course assumes the student already has basic knowledge of aromatherapy and is suitable for anyone who has taken Intro to Aromatics or an equivalent class. Includes detailed workbook. 12 hours.
BEYOND THE BASICS, Module 2: IN-DEPTH ESSENTIAL OIL MONOGRAPHS
(UNDER DEVELOPMENT)
This course follows the format of Module 1, and introduces monographs/materia medica on 20 additional essential oils. Application of medicinal clays is also covered. Students will receive an extensive workbook including many formulas for common ailments, and everyone will be able to create a few of their very own personalized blends to take home. The class assumes the student already has basic knowledge of aromatherapy and blending technique and is suitable for anyone who has taken Intro to Aromatics or an equivalent class. It is strongly recommended that potential students complete Module 1 prior to enrolling in this course. 12 hours.
HOW ESSENTIAL OILS WORK: PRACTICAL & ESOTERIC AROMACHEMISTRY
This non-threatening course for non-scientific types will cover basic chemistry terminology and essential oil functional group theory. Learn why and how essential oils work the way they do, how to determine potential healing properties of unfamiliar oils, why some essential oils are safer than others, and the best oils to use on special populations. We'll apply our newfound knowledge of aromachemistry to the Hippocratic temperaments (this is the fun part!), and learn how to do a short reflexology session to determine a client's aromatherapy needs. This course assumes the student already has basic knowledge of aromatherapy and is suitable for anyone who has taken Intro to Aromatics or an equivalent class. Includes detailed workbook. 12 hours.
REIKI FIRST DEGREE/INTRODUCTION TO ENERGY WORK
Reiki is an eastern-based discipline of healing touch that involves the transmission of universal life force energy (ki) from healer to recipient. This holistic practice is extremely empowering, non-invasive, gentle and easily incorporated into many different complementary medical practices. This experiential class offers a discussion and comparison of different types of energy work, and is ideal for anyone who is interested in pursuing the study of reiki, Therapeutic Touch, etc. We will cover the chakra system and anatomy of the human bioelectric field, including palpation excercises. Transference issues, grounding, and the creation of a safe healing space for therapist and client will be discussed. Students will be attuned to Reiki First Degree and learn protocols for self-treatment, treatment of others, and group sessions. This course is a prerequisite for all students wishing to attend Aromaceuticals Reiki Second and Third Degree classes classes. 12 hours.
REIKI SECOND DEGREE
Reiki is an eastern-based discipline of healing touch that involves the transmission of universal life force energy (ki) from healer to recipient. This level of study builds on the previous class by introducing the concept of sacred symbols. Several methods of distance reiki and reiki-based meditation techniques are taught. As with all Aromaceuticals classes, you will receive plenty of hands-on practice time, as well as a comprehensive manual. 6 hours. See above for prerequisite course.
REIKI THIRD DEGREE
Reiki is an eastern-based discipline of healing touch that involves the transmission of universal life force energy (ki) from healer to recipient. This level of study builds on the previous classes through refinement of various Japanese healing techniques based on the teachings of Mikao Usui. Students receive a master symbol with their attunement. As with all Aromaceuticals classes, you will receive plenty of hands-on practice time, as well as a comprehensive manual. 6 hours. Prerequisite course: Aromaceuticals Reiki Second Degree.
INTUITIVE LIFE PATH TAROT
Anyone can learn to read tarot, and the cards are a wonderfully creative tool for guidance along the twisting and turning path of life, no matter which spiritual tradition the reader embraces. Working without notes, we will learn a simple technique that demystifies tarot reading. Special emphasis will be placed on Jungian archetypes present in card imagery as they relate to various life stages within the archetypal Hero's Journey. Students will be able to do short readings with ease using several different layouts by the end of the course. Handouts will be provided at the end of the day for students to take home. Required material: Universal Waite or Rider Waite tarot deck. For consistency, no other style tarot decks are acceptable for this class. 8 hours.

Enrollment Terms and Conditions
Desert Cities area classes: In the event a student withdraws, deposits are nonrefundable. For cancellations over 8 days prior to class date, student will be given a credit in the full amount of the deposit toward a future Aromaceuticals course. No credits will be given for cancellations made less than 8 days prior to class date. If Aromaceuticals must cancel a scheduled class, any deposits will be promptly refunded in full.
Classes outside Desert Cities local area: Tuition must be paid in full 15 days prior to class date. In the event a student withdraws over 30 days prior to class date, deposits are refundable less a $35 processing fee. For cancellations made between 30 and 15 days of class date, student forfeits deposit in full. For cancellations made 8 to 15 days prior to class date, student forfeits 50% of all monies paid. There will be no refunds for cancellations made within 8 days prior to class date. If Aromaceuticals must cancel a scheduled class, any deposits or prepaid tuition will be promptly refunded in full.
